Jalen Williams isn't happy with the way media giant described him, calls out their silly mistake after OKC vs Clippers game

In a recent matchup against the Clippers, Jalen Williams, the 23-year-old forward for the Oklahoma City Thunderhas made a powerful statement both on and off the field. Williams, who was often considered the ideal “Robin” for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s “Batman,” was not shy about addressing the media when the facts about him were distorted.

Jalen Williams hits back at media house for inaccurate description of his height

ESPN and SportsCenter, two major media outlets, made a mistake by portraying him as needing correction, especially after his standout performance. The controversy began when ESPN shared a post discussing the Thunder’s lineup changes due to injuries to Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein. The caption suggested that Gilgeous-Alexander was the tallest player in Oklahoma City’s starting lineup. To illustrate, a slide showed the heights of OKC’s starters, including Williams, who was incorrectly listed as 6’5.

In response, Williams reposted the slide with a simple, yet humorous correction: “I’m 6 feet tall.” His straightforward answer quickly gained popularity, with fans and analysts alike acknowledging the mistake.
However, this attention to Williams’ height correction paled in comparison to his on-field performance. In a surprising twist, with both Holmgren and Hartenstein sidelined, the Thunder switched to a small lineup, giving the 6’6 Williams a role as a makeshift center. Despite being undersized for the position, Williams showed an impressive combination of grit and versatility. He emerged as the team’s second-highest scorer on the night, behind only Gilgeous-Alexander, who dominated with 45 points. Known for his ferocious defense and scoring prowess, Williams has scored more than 20 points in seven of 11 games so far this season – a performance that has cemented his value to the Thunder.
Williams’ exceptional performance against a formidable Clippers team, especially against the towering Ivica Zubac, showed his adaptability. Known as a player who can transition seamlessly between roles, he has become invaluable to Oklahoma City, especially in small lineups. As the Thunder endure a challenging season, Williams’ ability to handle a variety of matchups even when he is at a size disadvantage demonstrates his toughness and tenacity on the court.
With every match, Williams proves that he is much more than a ‘Robin’ for Gilgeous-Alexander. The Thunder’s future looks bright with his talent in the mix, and it’s clear he won’t be overlooked any time soon, especially by those who now know his true size and talent.
