Giannis scores 48 points, Bucks go to overtime and Pistons are tied 111-111

The Milwaukee Bucks will try to win back-to-back games for the first time when they take on the Detroit Pistons tonight at Fiserv Forum.

Pistons rookie Ron Holland II missed two free throws with one second left and the game tied 111-111, and the game went to overtime. The Bucks led by seven points with just under five minutes remaining, but the Pistons would not give in to force extra time.

The Bucks stormed back from a 13-point halftime deficit to take an 85-84 lead over the Pistons after the third quarter thanks to a 38-point effort behind eight points from Gary Trent Jr. and 10 from Giannis Antetokounmpo. Detroit big man Isaiah Stewart was ejected for committing a Flagrant 2 foul on Antetokounmpo.

The Pistons took a 60-47 lead into halftime as the Bucks couldn’t make a shot. Giannis Antetokounmpo went 10-for-17 from the field for 28 points, while the other seven Bucks who played were a combined 6-for-27 (22%) for 19 points.

Antetokounmpo scored 22 points on 7 of 10 shooting, while all other Bucks players combined to go 0-for-12 in the first quarter as the Pistons led the Bucks 27-24 after one.

The Bucks (3-8) defeated Toronto without Damian Lillard on Tuesday night, as five players reached double figures. The Pistons (5-7) are an improved team under new coach JB Bickerstaff and defeated Miami on Tuesday evening in Detroit.

Does Giannis play?

Yes, according to Bucks head coach Doc Rivers. He has suffered from pain in his right kneecap all season and has not missed a game with this problem.

Damian Lillard injury update

Milwaukee all-star point guard Damian Lillard reported concussion-like symptoms and entered the NBA concussion protocol Monday night after being hit in the head during the Nov. 10 game against Boston.

Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said Lillard woke up with a headache on Wednesday after passing “the majority” of his return-to-play testing on Tuesday night.

Lillard was accidentally hit in the face by a referee who waved a late shot after time expired in the third quarter of the Bucks’ loss to the Celtics on Sunday. He played nearly seven minutes in the fourth and went 0 for 2 from the floor. On Monday he reported a headache.

Lillard was publicly entered into the NBA concussion protocol via the Bucks on November 11 at 8:16 PM and was immediately ruled out for Tuesday’s game. There was some belief he could be available against the Pistons, but he was ruled out Wednesday afternoon.

What is the NBA Concussion Protocol?

According to the NBA concussion policy, if a player is diagnosed with a concussion, he should be monitored for 24 hours and may begin physical activity after that period. If the player does indeed suffer a concussion, “he cannot return to full participation without restrictions: (i) for at least 48 hours after the time of injury; and (ii) until he has completed the required return to participation process. .”

What channel are the Bucks on?

The game starts at 7:00 PM on FanDuel Sports Network with Lisa Byington, Marques Johnson and Melanie Ricks on the call.

Bucks injury report

  • Khris Middleton, out (surgery on both ankles)Rivers: “No (setback). He’s just moving forward and moving on. I mean, I don’t know what the return date was or if there was a set, so what we’re doing is trying to get him healthy so he’s ready to play.” ” he is ready to play. As I’ve jokingly said a million times, “Doc is a nickname.” I don’t really know. I just contacted the medical team and they’re telling me the same things, like he’s getting there, he’s getting closer and I’m basically relaying the same things to you. I don’t get involved, like I’ve told you many times. I don’t think this is a great place for a coach. Troy (Flanagan) comes in, gives me the report and I say ‘thanks’ and that’s it. I look at Chris and guys who are injured about how they feel, more human things, because Khris wants to play and he’s frustrated that he’s not. Ryan had a great game last night now that he might be out, so he’s frustrated and that’s just how it works for a coach. It’s more about the mental stuff, the mental health than anything else.”
  • Damian Lillard, out (concussion protocol)
  • Bobby Portis Jr., out (right elbow contusion)Analysis: Portis tested his right elbow during warm-ups and it was determined he would miss the game with a right elbow contusion. Two-way player Liam Robbins and rookie Tyler Smith are the backup big men behind Brook Lopez and Giannis Antetokounmpo.
  • Ryan Rollins, out (left shoulder instability)
  • Giannis Antetokounmpo, probably (right patella tendinopathy)
