Federal authorities search Gracie Mansion after NYC Mayor Eric Adams is indicted

Nearly a dozen federal agents in suits arrived at Eric Adams’ mayoral home, Gracie Mansion, early Thursday morning to search his official residence, just hours after Hizzoner became the first mayor of the Big Apple to be charged in a federal investigation.

The men and women, all dressed in business attire, entered the mansion shortly before 6 a.m., carrying briefcases and large bags.

At least two SUVs spotted near the mansion had federal police parking signs on the dashboard.

Another black SUV that pulled onto the property in the dark turned out to be a prisoner transport vehicle. Photos obtained by The Post show the steel partition between the front and back seats clearly visible.

Adams’ well-known attorney, Alex Spiro, called the search a “spectacle.”

“Federal agents showed up at Gracie Mansion this morning in an attempt to (once again) create a spectacle and (once again) take Mayor Adams’ phone,” Spiro said in a statement to The Post.

“He has not yet been arrested and is looking forward to his day in court.”

Spiro added that the federal government had taken a phone that “we would have gladly turned in.”

On Wednesday night, the NYPD quickly set up barricades outside the mayor’s mansion after it was announced that Adams had been indicted by a grand jury on charges related to a federal investigation.

The indictment, the first against a sitting New York mayor, is expected to be made public on Thursday by U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams, sources said.

Despite the presence of law enforcement outside Gracie Mansion, Adams was not expected to surrender to authorities until early next week, the sources said.

Details of the historic indictment were unclear Thursday morning but are believed to relate to allegations that the Turkish government illegally funneled money into his mayoral campaign in exchange for approval from the Turkish consulate in Manhattan, sources said.

Meanwhile, a proud Adams — who has long denied wrongdoing — made it clear he wasn’t going anywhere. He said: “I always knew that if I stood up for New Yorkers, I would become a target — and a target I became.”

“If I am charged, I am innocent and I will fight this with all my strength and mind.”

In a video statement, Adams added that he would not resign and vowed to “fight these injustices with all my strength and spirit.”

“I will demand an immediate trial so New Yorkers can hear the truth. New Yorkers know my story. They know where I come from. I have fought injustice my entire life,” he continued.

“That fight has continued as your mayor. Despite our pleas, when the federal government did nothing while its broken immigration policies overwhelmed our shelter system with no relief, I put the people of New York above party and politics.”

Sources close to Adams reported Thursday that the mayor is receiving a lot of support behind the scenes.

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, which is handling the case, declined to comment on the charges.
