During the second quarter, Hurts’ head collided with the turf after a forceful tackle by Washington’s linebacker, Frankie Luvu. His head bounced off the ground, causing immediate concern as Hurts lay face down and clutching his helmet. Although examined in the medical tent, Hurts returned to the game and eventually completed 221 meters in the air, showing resilience and determination. The intensity of the game peaked in the final quarter, with the Eagles holding a narrow 12-10 lead. The Commanders, about to take the lead with a field goal, opted to attempt a fourth-down conversion. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was stopped short, giving the Eagles a chance to extend their lead.

Barkley seized the opportunity and surged ahead with a 23-yard touchdown, delivering a decisive blow to Washington’s defense. Jake Elliott’s successful extra point, after missing previous kicks, extended the Eagles’ lead. The Eagles defense responded strongly, with safety Reed Blankenship intercepting Daniels’ pass on Washington’s next drive. Moments later, Barkley closed the game with another impressive touchdown, sprinting 39 yards into the end zone.
