There is a wind advisory in effect for Wednesday, likely more snow

TAHOE BASIN, Calif. – A wind advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13. More snow is forecast later this week, including the possibility of 2 to 4 inches of snow on Friday.

The advisory follows a Veterans Day storm that left Tahoe covered in snow.

For the first time this season, snow has accumulated all the way to the lake.

Ski resorts in Tahoe are reporting 4 to 6 inches of snow after Monday’s storm.

Wednesday’s forecast includes a “slight chance of rain and snow showers before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain showers between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., then likely snow showers after 4 p.m.” Wind speeds can reach up to 45 km/h.

Multiple sources predict intermittent snow showers for the rest of the week, with 5 to 10 centimeters of snow possible on Friday. Snow levels generally remain below 2,000 meters for the rest of the week.

Many of the local ski resorts can expect 4 to 8 inches of new snow by the weekend.

Chains are currently required on Highway 89 between Pickett’s Juntion and Highway 50. Chains are also required on 89 in the Emerald Bay area, between the intersection with Highway 50 (the Y intersection) and DL Bliss State park.
