Mike Tyson punches Jake Paul during the final weigh-in

Things got intense between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul at the final weigh-in before their highly anticipated fight, with the boxing legend punching the YouTube star.

Before Tyson (58) and Paul (27) let loose in the ring of AT&T Stadium in Texas in front of a worldwide audience on Friday, November 15, the two had to be separated at the weigh-in a day earlier. Tyson responded with an open-handed punch when Paul stepped on his foot.

After the meeting, a source close to Tyson told ESPN that the former heavyweight champion reacted after Paul “purposefully” stepped on his foot because Tyson was fed up with Paul calling him names.

The two were quickly separated after the incident and Tyson was taken away, while Paul incited the crowd, saying, “It’s personal now.” He must die!”

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, November 13, Tyson told Paul to brace himself for what awaited him in the ring.

“I bring the devil himself (to the ring),” Tyson said. “There are no feelings attached to it.”

Tyson continued, “My own mother has to be very careful when she has to get in the ring with me. When it’s over, it’s over. But while the process is going on, my intention is to hurt him. I hope he has the same intentions, otherwise he’s in trouble,” he said, according to the outlet.

Paul, meanwhile, previously told PEOPLE that he is taking inspiration for the fight from three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes.

“It’s cliché, but there’s a reason why he’s the best,” Paul said of the 29-year-old quarterback from Kansas City. “He keeps winning and keeps showing up and being a leader.”

“He never really has days off and his focus is something I admire,” he added of Mahomes.
