State Superintendent Ryan Walters has sent an email to every Oklahoma superintendent saying he is requiring all Oklahoma schools to play an approximately 90-second video for all enrolled children and send it to their parents.

There was some confusion after the video came out. Bixby and Edmond Public Schools said OSDE remembered the email sent to them before the original video was resent, and an email with no changes.

Walters clarified that the video and emails were recalled due to an issue with the link, which was corrected in the second email.

In the video, Walters prays for Oklahoma children and emphasizes that students do not have to pray with him.

He also explains why he established the Ministry of Religious Freedom and Patriotism within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its role.

“Dear God, thank you for all the blessings you have given our country. I pray that our leaders will make the right decisions, I especially pray for President Donald Trump and his team as they continue to bring about change in the country. I pray for our parents, teachers and children that they receive the best possible education and live high-quality lives. I also pray that we continue to instill in our young people a love of country, and that our students understand and love what makes America great. continue to hold the land. Amen.”

Several districts confirmed they received an email from Walters late Thursday evening with the video of Walters praying and instructions for Oklahoma school districts to have students view it and send it to their parents.

News On 6 and News 9 have reached out to districts across the state, with several saying they are choosing not to show the video. Those schools are Bixby Public Schools, Caney Valley Public Schools, Edmonds Public Schools, Union Public Schools, Owasso Public Schools, Jenks Public Schools and Preston Public Schools.

Kellyville Public Schools, Collinsville Public Schools, Oologah Public Schools and TPS Public Schools have not yet responded.
