Several schools are postponing or canceling classes, switching to online learning on Mondays

Several school districts in Oklahoma have announced a late start for Monday due to possible severe weather.

Several districts have canceled classes, postponed classes or pushed back class start times on Mondays.

The following school districts canceled classes on Monday.

  1. Bethany Public Schools
  2. Moore Public Schools
  3. Secondary public schools
  4. Yukon Public Schools
  5. Normandy public schools
  6. Millwood Public Schools
  7. Piedmont’s public schools postponed class start times by three hours on Monday.
  8. Newcastle Public Schools has postponed the start time of classes to 11.10am for primary school pupils and 11am for all other schools.

Other Oklahoma school districts moved to a virtual learning day on Monday:

  1. Oklahoma City Public Schools has transitioned to a virtual learning day.
  2. Edmond Public Schools has transitioned to a virtual learning day.

Western Heights Public Schools delayed class start times by two hours on Monday.

Piedmont’s public schools postponed class start times by three hours on Monday.

Newcastle Public Schools has postponed the start time of classes to 11.10am for primary school pupils and 11am for all other schools.

Newcastle Public Schools shared a message to families stating:

There is severe weather with the possibility of tornadoes expected tomorrow morning when we would normally be running bus routes. I’m going to push back the school start times:

Middle and high school start at 10am

ECC starts at 11am

Primary school starts at 11.10 am

All sites will be closed at their regular time.

All buses depart from the bus shed at 9:00 am. You will receive a message from the Transport Department with additional information about the route time. I will monitor the weather in the morning and send additional communications if the storm timeline changes and we are unable to run the buses at 9am.

In a message to families, Union City Schools said:

UC Families, with severe inclement weather forecast to be in our area tomorrow morning and wind dynamics expected to be in the severe range during regular morning traffic for our bus drivers, teachers and students, we want to ensure the safety of everyone by plans for tomorrow start late.

The buses leave at 9:30 am.

The school doors open at 10:00 am as long as all the severe weather has cleared the area.

If not and we need to adapt, we will do so tomorrow morning. We hope that by getting this information out early it will help families plan accordingly.
