Dallas Weather: Tornado watch, thunderstorms expected during morning commute

Heavy winds and thunderstorms are expected across Dallas-Fort Worth Monday morning.

The line of storms is expected to remain west of the metroplex early this morning before moving into the DFW area around 8 a.m. The storms will move through the region until about 10 a.m. before clearing.

Wind gusts of 30 to 40 km/h are expected. FOX 4 weather experts advise residents not to park under trees during this time.

There is a low risk of tornadoes in the northern counties of the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but most concerns are in the north, near Oklahoma.

The weather should clear up Monday afternoon and temperatures will return to normal, staying in the low 70s for the rest of the day.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny with drier air and temperatures in the low 70s ahead of the next cold front.

Highs for the next few days will remain in the 60s with sunny conditions. Thursday morning is expected to be the coldest, with temperatures in the low 40s in urban areas and into the upper 30s in remote areas.

Sunny weather and temperatures in the 70s are likely to return this weekend.
