2024/25 UEFA Nations League knockout phase and play-off draw | UEFA Nations League

The knockout stages and play-off draws of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League will take place in Nyon, Switzerland, from the afternoon of Friday, November 22.

What draws will take place?

There will be a total of four draws:

League C/D play-offs: This will determine the two play-off matches that will take place between the two top-ranked, fourth-placed teams from League C and the two runners-up from League D.

Playoffs competition B/C: This will determine the four promotion/relegation play-off matches that will take place between the third-placed teams from League B and the second-placed teams from League C.

Playoffs competition A/B: This will determine the four promotion/relegation play-off matches between the third-placed teams from League A and the runners-up from League B.

Liga A knockout stage: This will determine the four quarter-finals between the group winners and runners-up of League A. It will also determine the June semi-finals.

How do the draws work?

League C/D play-offs

The first draw will determine the League C/D play-offs. The top two ranked teams from League C who are in fourth place will be seeded and seeded in Pot 1. They will then be drawn against one of the two runners-up from League D, who are seeded in Pot 2. 2 are drawn first and placed on the first available positions. Once both unseeded teams have been drawn, the two Pot 1 teams will complete the play-off pairings. The Pot 1 teams play at home in the second leg.

The second draw determines the League B/C play-off combinations. The four third-placed teams from League B will be seeded to form Pot 1, while the four runners-up from League C will be in Pot 2. In accordance with the relevant decision of the UEFA Executive Committee, Ukraine and Belarus cannot be drawn against each other, should both teams participate in the respective draw.

Liga A knockout stage

The fourth and final draw will determine the composition of the League A knockout stage. In order to draw the quarter-finals, the four League A group winners will be seeded and placed in Pot 1. The four runners-up form Pot 2 and are drawn first. The Pot 1 teams are then drawn, with the restriction that group winners cannot be drawn against the runners-up they already faced during the competition phase.

Another pot is being prepared for the semi-final draw, containing four placeholders representing the winners of the quarter-finals. The placeholder drawn first is the home team of the first semi-final. The second team drawn is the home team of the other semi-final. The placeholder drawn third is the first pair’s away team, and the last placeholder drawn completes the remaining pair.

When are the play-off games?

The League B/C play-offs and League A/B play-offs, as well as the League A quarter-finals, will in principle all take place on March 20 and 23, 2025.

The League A semi-finals will take place on June 4 and 5, followed by the third place match and final on Sunday, June 8.

The League C/D play-offs will take place on Thursday 26 and Tuesday 31 March 2026.
