Warriors comeback falls short in second loss to Clippers, 102-99

After a few days off, the Golden State Warriors played their first ever game at the Los Angeles Clippers’ new arena, the Intuit Dome.

After a slow start in the new arena, the Warriors trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half. Despite falling by double digits, the Warriors hung around and quietly built a comeback run. Midway through the third quarter, the Warriors cut the Clippers’ lead to just three. Before the final frame, Buddy Hield knocked down a triple to tie the game at 72.

However, every time the Warriors threatened, the Clippers made a quick run to cut their lead to six or seven points. In the fourth quarter, the Warriors continued to battle the Clippers in a tight game. Still, their comeback shot came up empty. Gary Payton II missed a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer that ended the game in favor of the Clippers, 102-99. The Clippers have now handed the Warriors two of their three losses of the season.

Steph Curry led the Warriors with 26 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field with six made 3-pointers. Curry added seven rebounds and six assists in 32 minutes.

The Warriors now return to the Bay Area on Wednesday for a game against the Atlanta Hawks at Chase Center.
