Explosion at the Tulsa plant

Several roads in Tulsa were closed Tuesday morning after a factory explosion at Royal Manufacturing, officials said.

The Tulsa Fire Department sent large crews to the facility at 516 S 25 West Ave. where clouds of smoke were visible.

“We ask the public to let us continue to work on this,” a fire brigade spokesperson said.

He said firefighters have the situation virtually under control and are focusing on protecting surrounding buildings. He added that facility crews believed the incident was caused by a nearby petroleum tank farm. Streets will remain closed until the smoke is under control.

Royal Manufacturing, which produces bath products, countertops and other home building materials, could not be reached for comment at the time of writing this report.
