Alabama football linebacker Keanu Koht is entering the transfer portal, he confirmed in a statement Tuesday.

Koht was not at Alabama for the wins against LSU and Mercer. On November 11, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said Koht had been suspended indefinitely.

“Dear Bama Nation,” Koht wrote in a statement on Instagram. “I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has been a part of my journey here at the University of Alabama – my coaches, staff, teammates and supporters. The lessons I have learned, the relationships I have built, and the experiences I have gained during my time here are truly priceless, and I will carry them with me throughout my life

“After careful thought and consideration, I have come to the realization that I have outgrown the boots I once wore here. With that in mind, I have made the decision to enter my name into the transfer portal with two years remaining on my contract. This was not an easy choice, but I believe it is the best choice for my future and personal growth.

“To the Alabama community: thank you for your continued support and encouragement during my time here. The wisdom, knowledge and values I have acquired will always remain with me as I continue my journey.”

Koht played in seven games for Alabama in 2024. He has five tackles, one tackle for loss and 0.5 sacks.

Koht was a four-star prospect in the class of 2021. He was the No. 59 player in the country according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. He originally committed to LSU on July 4, 2020 before flipping and signing with the Crimson Tide on December 16, 2020.

On October 7, DeBoer confirmed Alabama defensive tackle Jehiem Oatis’ plans to redshirt and enter the transfer portal after the 2024 season. Oatis later confirmed the move in a statement.

Alabama will take on Oklahoma on Saturday at 6:30 PM CT in Norman.
