Khalid says he was ‘out’, but tells fans: ‘I never hid’

Singer Khalid has said he was ‘out’ as he confirmed to his followers that he is part of the LGBT+ community.

The 26-year-old artist, who released his third album Honestly responded in August to fans apparently questioning his sexuality on social media.

Sharing a rainbow flag, he added: “There y’all go, next topic please lol.”

To clarify, he quoted a fan who wrote, “Just wait, hope Mr. Khalid isn’t GEHHH!”

“I am! And that’s okay,” Khalid said.

He added: “I was taken out and the world still keeps turning. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I’m not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it’s nobody’s business! But I’m doing well. I love you all.”

The “Young Dumb and Broke” singer also responded to a follower who suggested his fans already knew about his sexuality, claiming that “the closet was made of glass.”

“I wasn’t hiding anything,” Khalid replied. “It’s just none of your business.”

Other fans defended the singer when they pointed out that he was releasing “an LGBTQ anthem,” “Satellite,” in 2022, prompting him to respond: “Thank you!!! I never hid.”

He seemed to draw a line under the subject and concluded, “Oh well, I love you all, thank you all, I’m done with it.”

Khalid has previously spoken about the pressure he feels when he is in the public eye, explaining that his social anxiety has affected his ability to form new relationships.

“It’s something I won and am excited about,” he wrote in a 2018 post on X/Twitter. “It used to be so easy to make friends and now I’m like…let me just go home.”
