Boise State star running back and Heisman Trophy candidate Ashton Jeanty surpassed 2,000 rushing yards for the season during Saturday’s game against Wyoming, becoming the first Football Bowl Subdivision player to accomplish the feat since 2019.

Jeanty reached the milestone with a 5-yard carry three minutes into the third quarter of a 10-10 tie. He entered the night needing 107 yards and came well over the halfway point with a score of 61 yards in the first quarter, his 27th rushing touchdown of the season.

Jeanty rushed for at least 125 yards in his first ten games of the 2024 season. His No. 12 Broncos have won eight straight games and are College Football Playoff contenders. They can clinch a spot in the Mountain West championship game by beating Wyoming.

Six minutes into the third quarter, Jeanty’s rushing yards totaled 2,009. That was just outside the top 25 in FBS history and has already set a Boise State record.

Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard, Navy’s Malcolm Perry, Ohio State’s JK Dobbins and Wisconsin’s Jonathan Taylor all finished the 2019 postseason with more than 2,000 yards on the year, but all four didn’t reach their mark until their respective bowl games.
