Jonathan Bailey shares ‘bad’ behind-the-scenes photos and videos

Jonathan Bailey looks back on his unforgettable time spent Bad.

The actor, who plays Fiyero in the recently released movie musical, shared a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the highly anticipated film production to celebrate it finally hitting theaters this past weekend.

Bailey, 36, started his post with a cast photo that also featured costars Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba), Ariana Grande (Glinda), Ethan Slater (Boq) and Marissa Bode (Nessarose), plus director Jon M. Chu.

Subsequent slides showed the actor working out, fooling around a bit on set, doing an impressive front walkover — and a hilarious shot of Grande’s dress getting stuck in the groin of his pants!

“Giggling and beaming,” Grande, 31, wrote in a comment. “I love you with all my heart.”

Based on the 2003 Broadway musical of the same name. Bad has created quite a bit of magic at the box office after the first part officially hit theaters on Friday, and has already recouped more than half of the two-parter’s reported $300 million budget and then some.

The film also stars Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Bronwyn James as ShenShen, Keala Settle as Miss Coddle, Peter Dinklage as the voice of Dr. Dillamond and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible.

Bailey plays Winkie prince Fiyero Tigelaar, and his big musical number, “Dancing Through Life,” provides one of the film’s most dance-heavy sequences.

As PEOPLE’s special issue on all things Bad explains that the British actor rehearsed Fiyero’s dances between filming both of his hit series Bridgerton in London and historical romance Fellow travelers in Canada.

“I have videos on my phone of me practicing on long-haul flights” between continents, he said.

Grande told PEOPLE that “our fellow choreographers would be coming to visit” with Bailey, and marveled at everything her costar had packed into his schedule.

Choreographer Christopher Scott and the associate choreographers would “teach him in his dressing room and so on and so forth,” the two-time Grammy winner recalled.

Pointing to her friend and co-star, Grande added in her conversation with PEOPLE: “I feel so grateful to be present and in my body during all this very special work and to be able to celebrate with the most brilliant, incredible artists to me.”

Bad is being released in two parts, the first of which is now in theaters.
