This Houston team probably shouldn’t lose to a team like Portland like they did in their last game – especially after beating them with ease in the previous game. Still, the Rockets have been solid for the most part this season with a 12-6 record. That includes terrible shooting. If they can continue their strong defense as their shooting improves, and they should, this team could accomplish a lot more this season.

Minnesota has lost its last two games and fallen to an 8-8 record. Point guard Mike Conley missed the last game and is now working every day. The fact that they almost won in Boston without him could mean this team is turning a corner. Rookie guard Rob Dillingham scored 14 points off the bench, giving their second unit a spark. This team just doesn’t have much life some nights, even with high-flyer Anthony Edwards. Houston is a team the league wants to believe in. I do too, but they’re inconsistent, so even though they’ve been solid in underdog roles this season, I’m not sure I want to put my money on them here. Minnesota is far from a sure thing, but it should have no trouble covering this short spread tonight.
