The Edward Jones office on Main Street is assisting pets at the Humane Society of Huron Valley again this year as part of their Day of Caring, and they hope the Manchester community can help again as well!

This is the second annual Day of Care that Tammy James, Senior Branch Administrator, has participated in, and it won’t be her last! Tammy enjoys working for a company that gives its employees a paid ‘Care Day’ so they can volunteer for a cause close to their hearts.

Last year, she says, “I had a full car full of donations to deliver when I spent my Caring Day at the Humane Society of Huron Valley. It was a great day and the shelter was so grateful for all the towels, blankets, food and other items I was able to bring!”

There is a drop box available in the lobby where you can accept donations of any of the items below.

  • Gently used or new bath towels (the bigger the better! Washcloths are fine, but please no hand towels.)
  • Small blankets and pet beds that can be washed in a normal washing machine.
  • Flat sheets.
  • Kuranda Beds for Dogs and Cats – We especially need 40×25 metal Kuranda beds for dogs!
  • Cat toys – toy mice (without catnip) and anything with a spring!
  • Pet food in the original bag/tin up to 3 months after the expiry date.
  • Scoopable cat litter.
  • Canned dog food. (They love the Pedigree yellow minced meat tins!)
  • Waterless pet shampoo.
  • Alcohol (must be 70% CLEAR alcohol – no odor).
  • Liquid Vicks solution (for steam evaporators).
  • Meters of fleece for animal projects.
  • Ziploc bags – both gallon and quart sizes.
  • Gift cards from places like Amazon.compet stores and office supply stores

Please consider dropping off a donation of any of these items beginning Monday, December 2 through the first two weeks of December, when Tammy expects to drop off another large car full of treats and useful items at the shelter . The boxes will be put to good use by pets in need and their caregivers!
