Prince Harry’s potential return to Britain remains uncertain as royal author Omid Scobie suggests Meghan Markle has no plans to return.
According to Scobie’s book Endgame, the Duchess of Sussex “never wants to set foot in England again” because she “never really felt at home” during her time in the country.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties in 2020 and moved to Montecito, California, with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Although Harry has made several trips to Britain, including one earlier this year to visit King Charles following his cancer diagnosis, Meghan has reportedly stayed away.
According to The Mirror, the couple’s last joint visit was in 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Speculation about possible peace talks with the royal family continues, but Scobie claims Meghan “never wants to be involved with the British monarchy again.”
In Endgame, which delves into the current state of the monarchy, Scobie quotes Harry as saying: “I’m ready to move past it. Whether we get an apology or responsibility, who knows: what could happen at this point really care?” This statement underlines Harry’s willingness to reconcile, contrasting with Meghan’s alleged reluctance.
According to Express, the couple have bought a holiday home in Portugal, which could serve as their European base. However, last year’s expulsion from Frogmore Cottage following Harry’s memoir Spare adds a new layer of complexity to their ties with Britain.
Harry has shared that he plans to maintain ties with his family, saying during an appearance on Good Morning America: “I have other trips planned. That would take me around Britain or back to Britain, so you know , I”I’m just dropping by to see my family as much as possible.”
While Harry seems open to mending fences, Meghan’s reported reluctance to return raises questions about the couple’s future relationship with the British royal family.
