LINCOLN, b. — Kansas City Women’s Basketball (2-5) showed resilience against No. 25 Nebraska (6-1). The Roos faced some early struggles but emerged as a standout against Nebraska in the third quarter, scoring just one of the Huskers’ 15 points. The Roos fell to the Huskers, 38-84, with the highlight Emani Bennetts sixth performance with double figures and a day of two blocks from Tamia Ugass.

1Q — 4:24 / 4-12 | Kansas City made three quick passes to move the ball down the field. Em. Bennett drove to the basket, fired a jumper and scored her second basket of the game.
3Q — 6:44 / 25-50 | Tamia Ugass got the game started with a huge block against Nebraska. Her block went straight to Alayna Contreras who carried it through the court. De Roos fired a few shots that didn’t fall but kept possession thanks to a strong rebound and eventually connected with Contreras who knocked down the first three of the day for KC.
3Q — 0:00 / 34-62 | Lisa Thomas find the ball when it comes in Funmi Amode who drove it in for the buzzer-beating layup.
4Q — 0:56 / 38-81 | Ana Oliveira Dias connected with Alyssa Febres just outside the arc. She drove the ball into the paint and knocked down her first field goal as Roo.

STATISTICS TO NOTE

  • Em. Bennett scored 11 points for the Roos, becoming Kansas City’s leading scorer for the fifth straight game. She has reached double figures in six of seven games this season, averaging 12.1 points per game.
  • Freshman Febres knocked down the first field goal of her collegiate career in the fourth quarter. In her ten minutes of action tonight, Febres hit one-on-two and set up a rebound.
  • Ugass earned both of Kansas City’s blocks, with one in the third quarter and one in the fourth. Two blocks marks a season high for Ugass and is just one step away from her career-high set on February 9, 2023 against Western Illinois.
