How much snow will Mass., NH get? – NBC Boston

NB! We’re tracking a storm system that will bring rain and some snow to parts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire just in time for the holidays!

Thanksgiving Day is a first warning. It will begin moving into the Greater Boston area around sunrise Thursday. The bulk of this event will be cold rain for most of the day for Boston, but some sleet cannot be ruled out in the early morning hours. Some communities could see more than an inch of rain.

While most of us will see rain, a few areas toward the Worcester Hills and western Massachusetts could see a combination of rain and snow or just snow. Communities along and north of outer Route 2 in the higher elevations have the best chance to see snow accumulations with this storm, likely between 1 and 3 inches of snow. Spots in southwestern New Hampshire could see between 3 and 4 inches of snow.

For parts of the Worcester Hills, a few people could see from a layer to an inch of snow, probably more of a slushy, slushy snow – probably not even enough to make a snowman.

A few flakes may mix with rain as the storm system rolls toward Greater Boston Thursday evening. But this event is primarily a rain event for Boston. High temperatures will be in the mid 40s for Thanksgiving.

Make sure you pack your clothes properly when you go grocery shopping on Black Friday. Morning temperatures will be in the low 30s. Highs will be in the mid-40s. Beware of any slippery spots on Friday morning due to the persistent moisture.

Colder weather will arrive next weekend. Highs will be in the low 40s on Saturday, then upper 30s on Sunday. We will have plenty of sun next weekend.
