Nick Bosa wore a RESID3NCY San Francisco hat during his post-game press conference. However, one of the questions he encountered was about a different hat he wore a few minutes earlier.

During NBC’s post-game interview with George Kittle, Brock Purdy and Isaac Guerendo, Bosa briefly crashed the segment, wearing a white “Make America Great Again” hat with gold lettering, making it clear who he is supporting in the upcoming presidential election.

“Okay, Nick Bosa on a message,” Melissa Stark said as Bosa exited after flashing his hat.

Bosa no longer wore the hat while speaking to Bay Area reporters. When asked why he chose that moment to make a political statement specifically showing support for Republican candidate Donald Trump, Bosa replied: “I’m not going to talk about it too much, but I think it’s an important moment is.”

Bosa has been reluctant to publicly share his political views since being drafted by the 49ers. He even deleted previous pro-Trump tweets ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft. When asked at the time why he did that, Bosa said, “I had to. There’s a chance I might end up in San Francisco.”

The 49ers selected Bosa with the second overall pick in that draft.

It is clear that Bosa is now more comfortable expressing his opinions and was asked if he has been more tempted to do so in recent years.

“It’s definitely a little easier these days,” Bosa replied with a smile. “But no, I don’t really feel like that. It’s just a different climate.”

Trump will compete with Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming elections. The 49ers are entering their bye week and won’t play again until after the election.
