OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – 6 News Daybreak has the headlines you need to know to start your Monday.

6 First Alert weather days from Monday to Wednesday

Our weather team has called for 6 First Alert Weather Days due to the risk of widespread frost and frost on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meteorologist Jaret Lansford reports that Monday will start frosty with temperatures around 30 degrees.

“Even as the day progresses, we will continue to be cooler than many of our recent days as we top out in the upper 60s,” Lansford said. “Unlike yesterday, the wind remains light all day and the sun shines above us.”

Police investigate fatal crash in Central Omaha

Omaha police say they are investigating a crash that left a man dead Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened at Blondo Street and Keystone Drive, near Central Omaha.

Stanley Wilder, 69, was driving eastbound and lost control of his pickup truck while turning into the westbound lanes.

Wilder’s truck then struck another truck, left the road, rolled and then struck a fence and a parked car.

He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Report shows new weekly gas prices in Omaha

Average gas prices in Omaha fell 5.3 cents per gallon over the past week.

A GasBuddy price report showed gas now averaging $2.84 per gallon on Monday. They examined 300 stations in the metro.

“Prices in Omaha are 7.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and 56.8 cents per gallon lower than a year ago,” GasBuddy said.

Matt Rhule speaks to the media prior to the Indiana game

Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule will hold his weekly press conference Monday after a bye week.

This will be the second road game of the season for the 5-1 Huskers as they travel to Bloomington, Indiana to take on the Hoosiers.

Grace Boyles of 6 News Sports reports that the undefeated Hoosiers will also have their first bye week of the season.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is set for 11 a.m. CT and will be Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff game.

Decision 2024: Last with Trump and Harris campaigns

The Harris campaign announced that Nebraska-born Gov. Tim Walz will make a stop in Omaha on Saturday.

It’s Walz’s second trip to the metro this election season, when he visited the Astro Theater in La Vista in August.

Meanwhile, Vice President Harris is focused on crafting a new plan that empowers Black men as she works to win their votes.

Former President Donald Trump has called for the addition of 10,000 Border Patrol agents after derailing a bipartisan bill earlier this year, AP reports.

“Trump has made illegal immigration the focus of his campaign, blaming Vice President Kamala Harris for a record spike in unauthorized crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border,” AP says.

United States to help defend against Iran

AP reports that an Israeli attack on a tent camp in a hospital in Gaza killed four people and started a fire, in which more than twenty people suffered serious burns.

“Israel continues to carry out almost daily attacks in the Gaza Strip more than a year after the war, and is conducting a major ground assault in the north where it says militants have regrouped,” says AP.

The Pentagon has said the US will send a missile defense system to Israel to help defend against Iran.

According to AP, the deployment of a THAAD battery was authorized at the direction of President Biden.
