Aaron Rodgers was injured after just four plays of the Jets’ first game at home last year, but played the entire game on Thursday night. He said it meant a lot to him that the Jets fans chanted his name during the win over the Patriots.

“It was a very special night. All those chants were very meaningful. I was actually hoping for a stopover to be able to take one last knee on the field, but yeah, a special night,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers said he no longer has any trouble with the Achilles tendon he tore last year and that he felt comfortable running, cutting and planting on the grass at MetLife Stadium.

“It felt great. I felt really good out there,” Rodgers said. “I felt like I was myself a couple years ago.”

Rodgers said a blow he took near the touchline reminded him he needs to be more conscious about leaving the lines to avoid contact.

“I’m 40 and there are some really fast guys in this league, so I have to finish the game outside the box,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers finished 27 of 35 for 281 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in a 24-3 victory for the Jets that was special for him and the home crowd.
