AFC Playoff Photo: Steelers loss helps Bills in conference position

The Buffalo Bills have a bye this week, but they picked up a somewhat important win on Thursday night when the Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Cleveland Browns in a snowy game in Ohio.

The Steelers entered the night a half-game behind Buffalo at 8-2, while the Bills held onto second place in the AFC at 9-2. The loss to Pittsburgh dropped them to 8-3 with an important part of their schedule looming.

Buffalo is now a full game ahead of Pittsburgh for second place and just a half game behind the Kansas City Chiefs for first place. Securing the one seed means a bye and home field advantage during the playoffs. The two seeds mean at least two home games. And if Buffalo is separated from the third and fourth seeds, they can rest their starters in Week 18 in preparation for the postseason.

Later this weekend, the Chiefs play the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, while the fourth-place Houston Texans host the Tennessee Titans. The Baltimore Ravens, one game back of the Steelers in the AFC North, are at the Los Angeles Chargers Monday night football.
