Air Quality Advisory in Effect for Cincinnati, NKY Region Wednesday

An air quality warning is in effect for the Cincinnati region on Wednesday.

The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency has issued an air quality advisory that is in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11. The advisory is in effect for Butler, Clermont, Hamilton and Warren counties in Ohio; Boone, Campbell and Kenton counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn County in Indiana.

The agency expects ozone and other major air pollutants to reach the “unhealthy for sensitive groups” range on the air quality index.

To help reduce ozone formation, the Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency recommends the following measures:

  • Take the bus, carpool, bike or walk instead of the car.
  • Refuel your vehicle after 6pm. Do not fill the tank completely and tighten the fuel cap securely.
  • Do not let your vehicle idle.
  • Combine journeys or avoid unnecessary car journeys.
  • Make sure your car is well maintained, with properly inflated tires and timely oil changes.
  • Avoid using gasoline-powered lawn mowers on days when an air quality advisory is in effect.
  • Avoid using oil-based paints and stains on days when an air quality advisory is in effect.
  • Never burn leaves or other garden waste.
  • Do not use fire pits, campfires, or charcoal grills on days when an air quality advisory is in effect.
  • Always burn clean, seasoned wood in outdoor fire pits, fireplaces and wood stoves.
  • Save electricity.
