ALCS Game 3 had drama, but was it the best Guardians postseason game I’ve ever seen? Paul Hoynes

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Someone asked me if Thursday night’s postseason game between the Guardians and the Yankees was the best I’ve ever seen. I’ve been watching Cleveland play postseason games since 1995, so pardon me if I don’t just jump up, pound my chest and say, “Hell, yeah.”

Did David Fry’s game-winning homer in the 10th inning of Thursday night’s 7-5 win over the Yankees mean more than Tony Pena’s game-winning homer in the 13th inning in Game 1 of the ALDS against Boston in 1995? It was Cleveland’s first postseason game in 41 years, and when Pena’s family dropped him off at Jacobs Field, he told them, “I feel like I’m going to do something special tonight.”
