Allegiant Stadium Guide: What You Need to Know About the Home Field of the Las Vegas Raiders

Editor’s Note: This article is part of the Stadium Guides series, a comprehensive guide to your NFL team’s stadium experience.

Raiders owner Mark Davis (and his late father) always dreamed of a stadium like this, and the franchise had to move to Las Vegas to get it. Allegiant Stadium doesn’t have all the bells, whistles and spaceship feel of SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. But it’s a state-of-the-art football stadium with great sightlines from every seat and real grass.

Davis takes the grass so seriously that he grows it outside and waters it before rolling it in for games. The local college football team, UNLV, uses the stadium, but not the Raiders’ grass and must play on turf.

The Athletics has compiled 32 stadium guides, one for each NFL team, to give fans essential information about the game day experience. We also asked readers to share their opinions on the best food, beer, and tailgate options at each stadium, among other things, to help football fans enjoy their visit.

They will enjoy the food at Allegiant Stadium, which is much better than Oakland. Fans also don’t have to worry about ending up in a porta potty and having it overturned by an angry mob after a loss. And they can walk to the Las Vegas Strip after the game to keep the party going.

2024 Must-See Stadium Game: vs. Kansas City Chiefs, Oct. 27

The last time these teams met, the Raiders defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day. The Chiefs got revenge by winning the Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium. As always, this matchup will serve as a good indicator of where the Raiders stand in the AFC West.

Fan tradition to know: ‘The autumn wind’

Before the Raiders run out of the tunnel to take the field, they turn off the lights and play a video montage with “The Autumn Wind” as the audio background. The video usually features current and former Raiders players and coaches. Then the Raiders are introduced and the Al Davis Memorial Torch is lit. Regardless of who the fans are cheering for, it’s a memorable experience that combines the past and the present.

Tashan Reed’s Favorite Thing

The open air press box. It may sound like a small detail, but it makes a big difference when it comes to feeling the atmosphere and emotion of the match. We in the press box work of course, but it adds to the fun.

Vic Tafur’s Favorite Thing

The “Black Hole” section of the end zone in Oakland, where raucous, costumed fans screamed the entire game, is now gone, replaced by a nightclub lounge with leather couches, a DJ, and bottle service. I’m confident the Vegas fan experience will get more upbeat once the team starts winning. Until then, I’ll take the sightlines (and the short walk to the Las Vegas Strip).

The Athletics‘s stadium ranking: 7

A year ago, our Jon Machota noted that Allegiant Stadium had “the smallest number of reporters ever to attend a game there.” Why? In part because it had not yet hosted a Super Bowl, which it did in February. The game went off without a hitch. Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce described the indoor turf field as the “best” he’d ever played on, and the NFL indicated it would soon bring a Super Bowl back to Las Vegas.

For a typical Raiders game, Allegiant Stadium is incredibly loud. The view from most seats is great, and there is no shortage of quality food, drinks, and merchandise.

Perhaps the biggest complaint is the price to get in. Allegiant Stadium had one of the highest average ticket prices in the NFL last season. The Raiders’ fan base is still fervent, and fans of other teams travel from far and wide to Las Vegas.

Fan Advice for Match Day

The Athletic asked NFL fans for feedback on the following questions:

Which seating area offers the most value for your money?

It’s not for the faint of heart, as these are the most expensive tickets in the seating bowl, but sections 112 and 134 do include unlimited food and drinks… and we’re talking lobster tails and top-shelf booze! You’ll also likely rub shoulders with NFL legends, celebrities, and industry titans. It’s all downstairs, under the seating bowl, and it includes a field-level patio right behind the team bench. You can watch the team managers set up for the game, and sometimes you can even interact with the players. The other team is on the 112 side, and the Raiders are on 134. These are also tickets for the 50-yard line. So it’s not cheap, but it’s an incredible bang for the buck for those with the cash! — Johannes P.

What food should you absolutely not miss?

Without a doubt, it’s the smoked brisket burrito at BBQ Mexicana, located off Sections 122 and 314. Unless you’re a vegetarian. — Christoffel F.

The Sicilian pepperoni pizza near the clubhouse is my favorite. — Joe V.

The Greek/Mediterranean kabob and rice cart on the top floor is fantastic. It’s light and satisfying if you’re trying to avoid greasy food. — Al A.

What is the best beer option?

The MarioChelada. — Mario P.

What is the best place to take a photo?

From almost any angle, the Al Davis Memorial Torch with its window to the strip beyond is epic! — Johannes P.

What child-friendly activities/options are there in the stadium?

There is a cool display on the east side of the stadium, along the inner stadium concourse, with a football helmet from every high school football team in Nevada. See if you can find your school! — Johannes P.

What’s the best place to tailgate?

Lot J. — Eric G.

The pre-parties up and down the Strip are only matched by the post-game parties up and down the Strip! You’ll see people wearing all the NFL jerseys. If you want to talk NFL with fans from all over the country (and the world), we’ve got it on the Strip! — Johannes P.
