Anderson Cooper hit by debris during Hurricane Milton coverage on CNN

CNN reporter Anderson Cooper was struck by a piece of flying debris Wednesday evening as the network’s star broadcaster reported on Hurricane Milton developments on the ground in storm-hit Florida.

Footage from Cooper’s reporting (below) shows the 57-year-old walking through high winds and heavy rain in Bradenton, Florida, before a square, white piece of debris hurtles through the air and hits him in the chest.

“Woah,” Cooper says in the footage, pausing to collect himself before turning back to the camera as water from the Manatee River began to rise around him. “Okay, that wasn’t good. We’ll probably go in soon.”

Shortly after that moment, host Kaitlan Collins reported to the audience on Cooper’s condition.

“I just want to note for anyone watching, who are obviously very concerned about all of our correspondents and anchors on the ground, that Anderson is doing well,” Collins said from her desk in the studio.

Entertainment weekly has contacted a Cooper representative for more information.

Although not in the same location, Cooper’s colleague, Boris Sanchez, also reported on Hurricane Milton from Tampa, Florida, where he and his team captured footage Wednesday of a group of people — including a small child — gathering on the shores of the coast of Florida. city as the hurricane prepared to make landfall.

Cooper’s incident marks the second close call for a network reporter in recent days, as CNN’s Jim Sciutto was forced to take cover in Israel on October 1 when Iranian rocket fire landed dangerously close to where he and his team were stationed.
