Angelina Jolie made quite the impression at the London Film Festival on Friday, stepping out in style for the premiere of her new film Maria. Accompanying her on the red carpet was a very familiar sight.

British rapper Akala caught the attention of the Red Carpet. The two were seen twinning during the event, which added fuel to the fire. This comes just a month after Akala debuted on Jolie’s Instagram, seemingly a reference to their budding romance.

The Maleficent actress stole the spotlight at the 68th BFI London Film Festival at the Royal Festival Hall on Friday. Despite being embroiled in a legal dispute with ex-husband Brad Pitt, she channeled the ‘boss lady’ confidence in a black blazer over a plunging waistcoat, accessorized with tailored trousers and heeled boots. With loose hair, minimal makeup and a pair of gold earrings, Jolie’s look was both polished and sophisticated.

Akala, on the other hand, sported a smart-casual look with a turtleneck under a black jacket, dark denim and stylish sneakers. Although both attended the event, the couple kept things low-key and opted not to pose on the red carpet together, but their twinning strategy certainly attracted a lot of attention.

Who is rapper Akala?

Kingslee James McLean Daley, better known as Akala, is a British rapper, journalist, author and activist from Kentish Town. He is the younger sibling of famous singer and rapper Ms. Dynamite. Akala is an outspoken advocate for social and humanitarian causes, with a particular focus on issues of racial discrimination.

His 2018 book, Natives: Race and Class in the Ruins of Empire, combines personal stories with a deep dive into issues of race and class. He started as a rapper, but then entered politics and started writing. At the age of 40, Akala is rumored to be dating Angelina Jolie, who is still dealing with an uphill battle with her ex-husband Brad Pitt over their French vineyard and claims of domestic abuse.

Is Angelina Jolie in a relationship with rapper Akala?

While Akala isn’t the only person romantically linked to Angelina Jolie at the moment (Broadway composer Justin Levine is another prominent name), he’s certainly gotten enough attention to spark rumors after repeatedly dating the actress on multiple occasions was seen.

In May 2023, Akala joined Jolie and her daughters, Zahara and Shiloh, at the Calabash Literary Festival in Jamaica. At the time, In Touch magazine reported that the two had been dating for over a year, but Jolie recently quashed any possibility of dating after claiming, “I probably have a really long list (of ‘nos’). I’m already just a while ago,” says ET. The alleged couple was also spotted having dinner together in Milan six months later.

However, TMZ later clarified that Jolie and Akala are just good friends. Akala is reportedly dating Chanelle Newman. The first rumors surrounding Akala and Jolie started during the Venice Film Festival.
