Another look at election contests for Tennessee | Elections

After sister publication the Nashville scene has put together a look at the Tennessee election in the final days of the campaign.

With early voting closing Thursday, the last chance voters have to cast their ballots is now on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.

Nashvillians will wait for the results of more than just the presidential race after polls close that day at 7 p.m. Mayor Freddie O’Connell, for example, proposed $3.1 billion transit plan‘Choose how you move’ is written on the ballot paper as a ‘for’ or ‘against’ referendum. Should the plan pass, a half-cent sales tax increase would be used to modernize Davidson County’s transit infrastructure with upgrades to buses, sidewalks and traffic lights.

Also on the ballot is the race for one of Tennessee’s two U.S. Senate seats, with underdog Democrat and Knoxville state Rep. Gloria Johnson challenging incumbent, Trump-backed Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn. In addition, Tennessee’s 5th, 6th, and 7th congressional districts are all on the ballot, pitting Republican incumbents against Democratic challengers who will have an uphill battle to secure victories.
