AP Poll Top 25 College Football Rankings Released After Week 7

The latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings are in after Week 7 of college football and there were some upsets after another wild weekend!

How about Oregon beating Ohio State, LSU beating Ole Miss and heck, Kansas State beating Colorado on the road? College football did not disappoint this weekend.

Let’s take a look at the latest AP Poll Top 25 rankings after Week 6.

Texas had a good weekend, right? It’s always fun to beat rival Oklahoma and remain undefeated, isn’t it?

The Longhorns also earned a convincing victory after a slow start. The 34-3 final will certainly look good on paper and after overcoming an early turnover, Quinn Ewers settled in on his first action back from injury.

Oregon held on for dear life with a 32-31 victory over Ohio State in front of the home crowd. Dillon Gabriel and Jordan James had banner nights throwing and running the football.

Moving forward, Oregon is the team to beat in the Big Ten, along with Penn State. The Ducks have the inside track to play Ohio State again in Indianapolis or the Nittany Lions, at least based on current projections.

Penn State came back in the second half to beat USC 33-30 in overtime on the road. Even though the State College runway isn’t long enough, Penn State had some Harrisburg energy on Saturday!

The Nittany Lions went undefeated and are quietly emerging as a legitimate playoff threat and potential Big Ten champions. We’ll see how the second half of the season goes.

Ohio State fell just short and maybe Will Howard wasn’t aware of the clock. But don’t blame the quarterback for the entire game, because he’s certainly good enough to win some other big games.

Not only that, Ohio State could very well win and see Oregon again, this time for the Big Ten title. There’s no need to hit the panic button in Columbus.

Georgian bulldogs

The Bulldogs defeated Mississippi State in a 41-31 shootout for another schedule win. Aside from the Kirby Smart controversy, the Bulldogs kept themselves in position for the SEC.

But how will the Bulldogs perform against Texas this weekend? With already one loss, Georgia can’t afford another and is praying for a wild-card spot in the College Football Playoff.

Miami was on hiatus this week and it was likely a much-needed break after exciting wins over Virginia Tech and Cal. Still, the Hurricanes are at the top of the ACC and are undefeated.

So far, this looks to be by far the best team in the conference, despite the last two close games. Clemson still has question marks, but may be on its way to erasing them. Speaking of which, more later!

Alabama is on shaky ground right now, but the Crimson Tide emerged victorious against an upset South Carolina team. If Alabama hadn’t defended a two-point conversion, who knows what would have happened?
Questions may arise about Kalen DeBoer and Jalen Milroe, at least in the context of the past two weeks. But they can put any worries to rest with a win next week at Tennessee.

8. LSU (+5)

LSU appeared headed for a disappointing campaign under Brian Kelly after a Game 1 loss to USC. Good thing we don’t overreact to one game, right?!

The Tigers have won five straight games and suddenly become SEC eligible midway through the year. It’s going to be really fun in Baton Rouge.

Iowa State is perhaps the most under-the-radar team in the country. Maybe not any longer, as the Cyclones are 6-0 after a 28-16 win at West Virginia and atop the Big 12.

Maybe this is the season fans have been waiting for under Matt Campbell. A few more wins and then the breakout campaign years are finally in the making.

Clemson’s comeback story since being blown out by Georgia in the first game of the year may be overlooked. The Tigers have won five games in a row and suddenly Dabo Swinney looks like a genius again.

Cade Klubnik threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns in the 49-14 win over Wake Forest. As it stands now, Clemson should be the favorite in the remaining six games. Welcome back?
