AP Top 25 Poll Prediction for Week 3

As we assess the damage from Saturday’s final games, we look ahead to the AP Top 25 college football rankings for Week 3

Who’s going up? Who’s going down?

Please note: this is not our ranking of the best teams, but our prediction for how the top 25 voters will place them in the official poll on Sunday.

Teams dropping out: NC State, Iowa, Kansas, Georgia Tech

25. Illinois. If Bret Bielema’s team beats a ranked Kansas team in a key non-conference game, that could work to their advantage.

24. Nebraska. A convincing win over Colorado and a few other losses could give the Cornhuskers room to move up the standings.

23. Syracuse. Kyle McCord put up tremendous numbers in a surprising game against highly regarded Georgia Tech.

22. Clemson. Cade Klubnik had 7 TD’s… in the first half, helping the Tigers bounce back this week.

21. Louisville. Tyler Shough scored twice for 349 yards in a win over Jacksonville State.

20.Arizona. A slow start on offense, but the Wildcats still pulled out a win against Northern Arizona.

19. Notre-Dame. MAC teams were 0-51 against top five teams until Northern Illinois effectively destroyed the Irish’s playoff chances.

18. The State of Iowa. Another exciting game between the Cy-Hawks. This time it was the Cyclones who made a last second field goal to beat Iowa.

17. LSU. Nicholls made it a 2-point game in the third quarter, but Garrett Nussmeier eventually threw 6 touchdown passes to extend the lead.

16.Michigan. Expect a defeat, as the champions were given a tough home game against Texas.

15. The State of Oklahoma. A slow start against Arkansas, but the Pokes came back in overtime to complete the comeback.

14. Kansas State. Two late goals helped the Wildcats avoid disaster at a surprised Tulane.

13.Oklahoma. Luckily, the Sooners have that defense, because the offense stalled against a Houston team they could have easily beaten.

12. USC. Miller Moss and a strong ground game led to a defeat for Utah State.

11. Miami. Cam Ward totaled four touchdowns in a win over Florida A&M.

10. Penn State. A narrow home win against Bowling Green could cost the Nittany Lions some votes.

9.Utah. Another injury for Cam Rising, but a win over Baylor for the Big 12 contender Utes.

8. Tennessee. Nico Iamaleava threw a touchdown and ran for another while crushing a highly regarded NC State team. This performance will get the attention of pollsters.

7.Missouri. A 21-point second quarter gave the Tigers a win over Buffalo, with Brady Cook scoring twice but throwing none.

6. Old lady. Jaxson Dart set the SEC record with 24 consecutive completions in another win, and the Rebels quarterback has 795 yards without interceptions against outnumbered opponents this year.

5. Oregon. A last-second field goal allowed Boise State to avert the surprise and remain undefeated.

4.Alabama. Another narrow win over USF, but the Tide managed to take a lead in the fourth quarter.

3. The state of Ohio. Judkins and Henderson scored 4 touchdowns and Jeremiah Smith had over 100 yards.

2. Texel. AP voters could bump the Longhorns up a spot after an impressive win over the reigning champions.

1. Georgia. As expected, the Bulldogs defeated Tennessee Tech.
