Since 2021, fans have been waiting for the next season of Arcaan, and now, as part of the Netflix schedule for 2024it’s finally here! The season continues the story of Jinx, Vi and everyone else in their twisted world, but we only get to see them last season. While this was a shock to fans, there’s still plenty to look forward to, and I had the chance to ask showrunner and co-creator Christian Linke what he plans to do in the world of Arcane.

Arcane is undoubtedly one of the the best shows to binge watch on Netflix, and now, with the release of season 2, it’s only going to skyrocket back up the charts. However, the makers of Arcane made the difficult decision to end the series after only two seasons to tell a complete story and to try not to drag it out.

However, Linke even said about the series ‘ X Please note that as this story comes to a close, there are still more characters to follow in the world of League of Legends. When I spoke to Linke beforehand Arcane During the season 2 premiere I asked what they will do next after the series ends and if there will be any characters from it Arcane they wanted to discover more. They said this is part of what they want to do. However, there were also “a lot” of other characters in it Lol they could explore and honestly they just have to start from the ground up:

There are definitely some characters whose stories we want to continue after Arcane. That’s part of what we want to do. But there are a lot of others too. I mean, we have over 160 characters in our IP address now. There’s a few that we’re super excited about, different regions, different storylines, that we want to explore… it’s like starting Arcane over again, to be honest. It’s as if we started with nothing. You think, “What should we do? Time to figure it out. Let’s figure it out.” We have to trust our feelings. That’s what we did with Arcane.

When Arcane was released in 2021, the show became huge for so many reasons including the well-written Jinx and Vi and their tragic sister story and the other stories we followed. It’s almost hard to imagine us falling for any other characters than these, having built a close bond with them over the past three years.

Yet Linke is right when he says that the world of Lol is ridiculously big. You could throw a dart at a board and get a new character each time with new knowledge that could serve as the backdrop for a new show. So even if we can’t follow characters we know and love Arcane in a new series I can definitely see myself loving new characters as well.

But don’t expect this new series to happen anytime soon. I jokingly told Linke that it would be another “decade” before a new series came out, just like the first season of Arcane. And he honestly agreed, chuckling but saying that’s just the way animation is and it takes time to make these shows reality:

I know. That’s exactly the problem with animation. You can’t do it quickly. It’s like whatever you’re thinking about right now, you’re thinking, “Is it going to take three to five years to make?”

Animated shows are known to release seasons much later due to the length of time to make. There are so many examples – of the long wait in between Invincible Seasons 1 and 2, after the creative series Hazbin Hotel even some of the best anime out there takes years to finally premiere on Amazon Prime. Fans can sometimes wait years. Heck, between seasons 1 and 2 of Attack on Titan, viewers had to wait five years. Good grief.

Anyway, as someone who do love the world of Arcane but is completely open to whatever story Linke and his co-creator, Alex Yee, want to tell, I’ll wait and see. I guess I’ll do that in the meantime watch other shows like Arcane to hold me.

Arcane Season 2 will release three-episode acts on November 9, 16 and 23 Netflix subscriptionyou can watch all the episodes to see how Vi and Jinx’s story really ends.
