Arizona Wildcats at Utah: Players of the Game

The Arizona Wildcats entered Rice-Eccles Stadium during a Black Out game and defeated the imposing Utah Utes 23-10.

That’s clear Brent Brennan and company did a great job of adjusting the team during the bye week, and it showed on Saturday night in Salt Lake City.

There were many standout performances, but we’ll take a closer look at a few below in this week’s Players of the Game:

Attack – Offensive line

  • Statistical line: 0 sacks, 161 rush yards, 5.4 yards per rush
  • Notes: The most important statistic is that the line didn’t allow Utah’s vaunted defensive line and rush to get a sack. That’s impressive. Not to mention they did a good job opening holes for the running backs most of the night. They allowed six tackles for loss, but most of those came when Utah started selling out against the run. Just an overall impressive performance for the line.

Defense – Tacario Davis, CB

  • Statistical line: 7 tackles, 5 PBU
  • Notes: As you can see, Bobo Davis had a game for himself. He was an absolute problem for Isaiah Wilson and Dorian Singer. Now Singer got his against Davis, but he bounced back and made play after play. He even had a shoutout in 2023 with a near-interception on a deep pass. After a difficult start to the season, Bobo is back.

Special Teams – Tyler Loop, K

  • Statistical line: 3-for-4, 53 yards
  • Notes: Loop was automatic against the Utes. He hit an impressive 53-yard field goal through the uprights in the third quarter and narrowly missed a 56-yarder that had the distance. Loop is active on Sundays.

Honorable mentions

  • Kedrick Reescano, RB: 7 cars, 73 meters
  • Keyan Burnett, TE: 5 rec, 76 yds, 1 TD
  • Emmanuel Karnley, CB: 4 tackles, 2 PBU
  • Genesis Smith, S: 3 tackles, 1 INT
