Liverpool go into their midweek clash with Spanish giants Real Madrid in high spirits after a grind it out win against Southampton to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points over second-placed Manchester City.

Reds head coach Arne Slot spoke to the media ahead of tomorrow’s match to provide some important updates on a number of injuries and when we can expect players back in the squad this weekend with the Manchester City match approaching.

On Trent:

”Trent is in the squad, but he will not be available to start. He might make a few minutes, in an ideal world he might not, but if he really needs to he can make a few minutes tomorrow, but he’s not going to start.”

About Chiesa, Kostas, Harvey Elliott, Alisson and Diogo:

”Federico is not yet in the selection. He does not train with us for the entire session, but usually one or two parts of the session. Harvey Elliott is in the team, but hasn’t played competitive football for a long time. So it’s there, but of course it’s not ready to start yet.

“Alisson is not there yet, Diogo is not there yet, Kostas is not there yet. He also has an injury, so it’s quite a list for us as well.”

Liverpool currently sit first in the UEFA Champions League rankings, with twelve points, unbeaten, while Real Madrid are struggling somewhat in this competition with only six points earned and are in eighteenth place after four games.
