Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty kept his Heisman hopes alive Saturday, helping the team to a 41-21 win over the San Jose State Spartans.

Despite a quieter game compared to the rest of his season, Jeanty helped improve the No. 13 ranked Broncos to an impressive 9-1 record. After a slow start, recording just 63 yards midway through the third quarter, he erupted in the fourth quarter to secure Boise State’s comeback win.

Jeanty finished with 32 carries for 159 yards and three touchdowns in Boise State’s win. Quarterback Maddux Madsen also stepped up, completing 22 of 30 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown.

The Broncos’ win was crucial to keeping their play-off hopes alive, but they will likely need to win their final two games to secure a spot, currently sitting at 12th and last in the last play -off-round state.

This past weekend, Jeanty moved into second place on the FBS all-time rushing yards in a single season list, behind only the legendary Barry Sanders who recorded 2,628 yards with 27 touchdowns during the Oklahoma State Cowboys 1988 season.

After Saturday night’s game, Jeanty did gathered 1,893 total yards and 26 touchdowns this season, ranking first in the NCAA for both total yards and touchdowns.

Heisman Trophy discussions have largely become a two-way battle between Jeanty and Colorado Buffaloes’ Travis Hunter, with Jeanty’s fourth-quarter comeback performance increasing his standing among fans on social media.
