Ashton Jeanty Injury Update: Breaking news emerges on Boise State RB status

College football fans across the country held their breath then Boise State run back Ashton Jeanty went down injured on Saturday against… Wyoming. Jeanty remained out for the rest of the third quarter and many began to worry if the injury was serious for the Heisman candidate.

However, with the game tied and his team needing him, he returned in the fourth quarter. It appears to be all right as he would run the ball four times for 53 yards on the next drive, setting up the go-ahead touchdown to put the Broncos up 17-13 with 5:02 to go.

Jeanty sustained the injury while he was tackled in the third quarter because his leg appeared to bend in an awkward position. He was clearly in pain as he lay there for several moments before limping to the sideline.

Jeanty did not come out with the team on the next offensive drive, although he did remain on the sideline. Boise State coach Spencer Danielson hinted he would return before the start of the fourth quarter.

“Ashton Jeanty is messed up, but we’ll find a way to get him back,” he said. ‘He’s a warrior. First of all, I want to thank Jesus for the opportunity to coach this game. We have a great group of kids and this is a tie going into the fourth quarter. We have to find a way to make our plays.”

The running back has carried the ball 17 times in the game so far, for a total of 169 yards and one touchdown. With that performance, he passed the 2,000-yard mark for the season.

Jeanty entered the game with 1,893 yards rushing and 26 touchdowns on the season. He had the second best odds to win the Heisman Trophy going into this week with a backlog Travis Hunter by Colorado.

Boise State is 9-1 this season and hopes to hang on here and play in the Mountain West Conference Championship. If it wins that, it is expected to make the 12-team College Football Playoff field.

Having Jeanty around will certainly help, and thankfully he seems to be doing well after the injury scare.
