Ashton Jeanty injury update: CBS Sports provides the latest Boise State RB news

Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty has had a historic season for the Broncos. Many different people across the country have recorded him as the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy in the 2024 campaign. His Broncos take on the UNLV Rebels on Friday night, one of the biggest games of the season for both teams.

The problem is that Jeanty has been confused for much of the game. After halftime, the CBS Sports broadcast updated the status of the Heisman hopeful. Sideline reporter Tiffany Blackmon provided the update on his injury status.

“I talked to Boise State coach Spencer Danielson. He was proud of the way his boys finished the half. He called them a resilient team, as did his running back Ashton Jeanty, who is dealing with a left arm injury. They said they’ll see how he feels at halftime, but he’s a warrior.

Jeanty briefly entered the medical tent in the first half, after which trainers decided to wrap his left forearm and elbow. But he went back into the game. With 12:38 left in the game, Jeanty had 26 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown. He made a number of impressive runs inside the 10-yard line, including readying his way into the end zone to put the Broncos ahead 29-24 with 12:38 left in the game.

Boise State defeated UNLV 29-24, keeping its College Football Playoff hopes alive. Jeanty finished with 33 carries for 128 yards and a touchdown.

In Mel Kiper’s latest Big Board, Jeanty was listed as a Top 10 prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, making him the No. 9 overall prospect. During Friday’s game with UNLV, Jeanty averaged 9.9 yards per carry and had 17 rushing touchdowns.

Through six games, he had 126 carries for 1,248 yards while scoring 17 touchdowns. He went wild against Georgia Southern, racking up 267 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Another impressive performance he had was against the Washington State Cougars when he had 26 carries for 259 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

In 12 games during his senior season of high school, Jeanty totaled 1,843 rushing yards on 229 carries (8.0 yards per carry). He also racked up 810 receiving yards on 41 catches and scored 41 total touchdowns (31 rushing, 10 receiving). Jeanty played at Lone Star High School (Frisco, Texas) from 2019-2021.
