Autumnal weather finally arrives in Las Vegas | Las Vegas weather

Wind gusts approaching 60 mph were felt in the Las Vegas Valley early Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

While Harry Reid International Airport recorded a recent gust of 70 km/h at around 8:30 am, North Las Vegas Airport recorded a gust of 90 km/h at 2:15 am.

Red Rock National Recreation Area regularly felt wind gusts exceeding 50 miles per hour throughout the 9 a.m. morning.

The second round of the Shriner’s Open was postponed due to windy conditions.

The windy conditions and dropping temperatures made for a cold Friday morning across much of Southern Nevada and other areas.

The temperature was about 25 to 30 degrees lower than 24 hours ago.

The weather service has issued a wind advisory for the area Friday until 11 p.m.

Patchy and blowing dust is forecast for the Las Vegas area before 2pm on Friday. The maximum speed is expected to reach 45 miles per hour, but winds of 20 to 39 miles per hour could reach wind speeds as high as 40 miles per hour, the National Weather Service says.

Lows around 61 are forecast Friday evening with north-northwesterly winds of 8-17 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.

North of the Las Vegas Valley, a wind advisory calls for northwest winds of 40-55 km/h and possible gusts up to 80 km/h. The route will run until 11 p.m. Friday for Indian Springs, Amargosa Valley, Furnace Creek, Bristlecone Pine, Shoshone, Pahrump, Stovepipe Wells, Westgard Pass and Desert Rock, the weather service said. The strong winds can make travel difficult.

Las Vegas should see a high of around 75 degrees on Saturday. The north-northwesterly wind of 13-30 km/h will become northeasterly in the afternoon. Wind gusts of up to 30 km/h can occur.

Sunday is expected to be a sunny day with a high near 77.

A wind advisory is in effect for Lincoln County until 11 p.m. Friday. Northerly winds of 30-30 km/h could produce gusts of up to 70 km/h and temperatures of up to 28 km/h are possible. A freeze warning is in effect Friday from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m.
