After weeks of teasing an ‘unprecedented ending’, Jenn Tran‘s season of The Bachelorette ended with a bang on Tuesday, September 3.

The Season 21 lead was revealed during the After the last rose episode that winner Devin Strader broke off their engagement over the phone. Jenn claimed that Devin said he “regretted” the proposal.

“He basically said he didn’t love me anymore and he didn’t feel the same way anymore,” Jenn recalls. “He was checked out. It wasn’t what he wanted anymore.”

Jenn confronted Devin during AFRwondering why he was following her companion Bachelor season 28 contestant Maria Georgas on Instagram the morning after their split. She also claimed he went “clubbing” with a fellow contestant Jeremy Simons instead of mourning their breakup.

Devin — who laughed awkwardly during the confrontation — explained that he had “a lot of doubts” after they left the show. “I was unfortunately too late to let you know,” he said.

Earlier in the episode, Jenn’s family met Devin and Marcus during separate conversations. (While we were having a heart-to-heart talk with Jenn’s brother, JamesDevin had asked for his permission to propose.) The physician assistant — who had previously told both finalists she was in love with them — ultimately dismissed Marcus before telling Jesse she wanted to propose to Devin. ABC aired the proposal after Jenn and Devin’s awkward confrontation on AFR.

Before the show began airing in July, Jenn revealed that the end of her journey had never happened before on Bachelor Nation. In the season teaser, Jesse can be heard asking Jenn if she was confident in her decision, before cutting to a clip of Jenn telling one of the men (now known as Devin) that she couldn’t propose.

“That moment with Jesse, where he asked me if I was sure I should do this or not, I think I can say now, I’m still not sure if I should have done this or not,” she teased on Good morning America late last month. “I would say it’s a very emotional one and there are a lot of twists and turns. A lot of surprises.”

During an interview with We weekly Earlier this summer, Jenn claimed she felt good about the ending.

“I can say that I definitely opened my heart to a lot of different connections and explored a lot of these (men),” she said. “The way things unfolded on the journey and the way things ended, I’m very happy with that.”

More recently, at the Men tell everything During filming in August, Jenn reflected on how far she’d come.

“I didn’t really know what to expect, but the best thing I’ve gotten out of it is that I’ve learned so much and grown so much,” she said. “I’m so glad I’m able to take the lessons I’ve learned from it with me and I feel so much stronger after the journey.”
