Bainbridge Claims Second-Team All-Big Ten Honors at Conference Championships – University of Nebraska

The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Big Ten Championships Friday morning. The women finished 11th in the 6 km with 283 points and the men finished 14th in the 8 km with 410 points.

Ali Bainbridge led the women with a 19th-place finish (19:46.2), earning her second-team All-Big Ten honors. Brynna McQuillen placed 38th with a time of 20:10.0, and Taya Skelton (66th, 20:33.7), Cami Merickel (88th, 20:50.1) and Berlyn Schutz (109th, 21:01.5) rounded out the Huskers scoring lineup.

In the men’s race, Trevor Acton finished in 80th place after crossing the line in 24:05.6 and Rico Leijennar in 85th place with a time of 24:07.9. Liem Chot (24:36.9) and Dennis Chapman (24:38.2) finished 113th and 114th respectively, and Grant Wasserman rounded out the scoring with a time of 24:46.1 and a 120th place finish.

Oregon claimed the women’s team title with 33 points, and Silan Ayyildiz won the women’s individual title for the Ducks. Washington came in second with 60 points and Wisconsin finished third with (133). Wisconsin won the men’s team title with 46 points, while Washington (58) finished second and Oregon (58) third. Bob Liking of the Badgers won the men’s individual title.

The Huskers will compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday, November 15 in Peoria, Illinois. Racing begins at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Newman Golf Course.
