Beat the competition with new Thresh, Azir LoL skins shown during the LCS

Clear out this rabble, the courtroom is now open. Riot Games has shown off two new skins that will League of Legends during today’s LCS broadcast, with Janitor Thresh and Attorney Azir making a welcome return to Riot’s classic champion-first skin design philosophy.

The two new skins were showcased during the Team Liquid vs. 100 Thieves match at the LCS Summer Championship and fans can’t wait to get their hands on them. Janitor Thresh wears the Chain Warden outfit in the janitor suit, with his iconic Dark Passage hook replaced with a two-in-one mop and drying tool, and his ultimate look sees him summoning wet floor signs as markers for The Box.

Lawyer Azir sees how the Emperor of the Sand is Competition armor for a suit and briefcase as he tackles crime in the courtroom. From wielding a scaled spear to sheets of paper that fly when he or his Sand Soldiers attack, you’ll be able to lay down the law on the Rift. The briefcase and hammers return with Azir’s ultimate Emperor’s Divide, which sees him batter enemy champions into submission before teleporting away and balancing the scales of justice.

We knew the Attorney Azir skin was coming thanks to a blog post from the Riot dev team on August 23, which also touched on a return to the team’s long-standing design philosophy: a focus on “champions first.” Devs said in the post that they’d be looking more at what each champion was missing in terms of themes, balancing “serious and cool” with “dumb and silly.” These two skins definitely fall into the latter category, but both are incredibly polished and hilarious, and early feedback from players on social media has been great.

“Enough shiny white (and) gold skins! Let’s hope this is a return to glory,” said one fan, while others agreed that fewer overall skins would have been fine if they came with “more soul and identity.” We likely won’t have to wait too long for these skins, as they’re both coming to PBE next week, so get ready to clean up crime – one case at a time!
