Beware of these flooded roads in KZN

The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has urged motorists to take note of a number of flooded roads due to the amount of rain the province has received this week.

The heavy rains, which started on Sunday, have already resulted in the flooding of several roads and disrupted traffic in major cities such as eThekwini.

Roads that are flooded and require alternate routes include:

  • N2 northbound from Isipingo slip road: avoid the left lane as it is flooded.
  • M4 from Bluff: left two lanes underwater before Esplanade exit, usual area.
  • The left lane of the N2 northbound near the old airport is flooded.
  • R102 Caneland intersection: right lane under water.
  • Higginson Chatsworth: flooded just before Havenside traffic lights, left 2 lanes blocked, heading towards Durban.
  • N3 eastbound, Brickfield Road (Malls Tiles): fast lane and middle lane under water.
  • Flooding on Umgeni Road westbound at the N2 entry and exit.
  • Flooding at St Johns Ave, Pinetown off M13.
