‘Big Brother’ Host Julie Chen Moonves Reacts to Makensy’s Shocking Decision (Exclusive)

Every week, Big Brother host Julie Chen Moonves discussed the latest happenings in the house. This week, she reacts to the events of the finale, including Chelsie’s big win, Makensy’s big decision not to bring Cam to the end, Tucker’s nomination as America’s Favorite Houseguest, and Jankie’s return.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Let’s start with the winner. How would you summarize Chelsie’s performance this season, ending in a unanimous jury vote?

JULIE CHEN MOONVES: It went almost smoothly. She had friends, loyalty, skills and smarts. When push came to shove, and she was blindsided by Carlo’s eviction and then losing Brooklyn… she reconfigured her game and figured out how to get through it with only one fellow Pentagon member left in the house. She deserved the unanimous 7-0 victory! (And I’m not just saying that because I’m her “aunt!”)

If Makensy Cam chooses to go all the way, she will win $750,000. She then told you that she was doing well and that she was okay with the decision. Do you believe that?

Yes, I do. Of course she repeats why she didn’t get it each votes to win, and I think that might be the hardest part for her. That said, she seemed willing to potentially lose the game to stay true to who she is as a person and keep her integrity intact. I’m proud of her.

What does it say that someone who hasn’t been in Tucker for six weeks just won America’s Favorite Houseguest?

It shows that the Tucker was a unique and unforgettable force. His unconventional gameplay combined with his incredible skills that saved him from his own daring, risky moves have cemented his place in BB history.

Tell us what it was like to be on that stage with the entire cast reunited at the end. Did you pick up any interesting tidbits or interactions?

I thought Makensy was the consummate professional, maintaining a classy, grounded humility about herself while she must have replayed in her head whether she was doing the right thing. It spoke volumes that she was able to celebrate the end of the season with others and Chelsie’s victory, and not act like a sore loser.

Finally, could we see Jankie in season 27?

When he finally stops singing that damn Jankie song, I’ll ask him!
