The Indianapolis Colts offense got going in the first half with three explosive plays: two through the air and one in the run game.

As usual at the start of this season, Anthony Richardson connected with Alec Pierce for a gain of 44 yards.

This is Pierce’s third completion of at least 40 yards this season. Pierce entered Week 3 with the third-most receiving yards in football. The Colts eventually found themselves in a goal-to-go situation after this completion, but the drive ended in an interception by Anthony Richardson.

After an interception by Colts cornerback Jaylon Jones, the Colts offense got the ball back. On the second play of the drive, Richardson connected with tight end Kylen Granson for 40 yards. Then, on the next play, Jonathan Taylor ran the ball in from 29 yards out.

At halftime, the Colts had 167 total yards of offense, with 113 yards coming from these three plays.

As we’ve seen in the first two games, the Colts offense certainly has the ability to generate big plays. Where they’ve struggled, again today, is sustaining drives, both through the run game and on short to mid-range pass plays.
