Bill Burr’s SNL monologue is about Donald Trump’s election victory

Bill Burr didn’t hold back in his “Saturday Night Live” monologue during the show’s first episode following Donald Trump’s election victory.

The Canton comic, who previously hosted the show in 2020, returned to Studio 8H in New York on Saturday evening, with singer-songwriter Mk.gee as the evening’s musical guest. Burr responded to Tuesday’s election results in his monologue, saying, “Alright ladies, you’re 0-2 against this guy.”

“But you learn more from your losses than your wins, so let’s get to the game tape: Ladies, enough with the pantsuit,” Burr said.

After criticizing the clothing choice and offering some crude alternatives, Burr admitted he was “so excited that this stupid election is finally over.”

“Like four years ago everyone knew who they were voting for, and then they drag you through this stuff for a year and a half,” Burr said. “Who was sitting there watching the debate as if it was still undecided? Two of the most opposite people ever.”

“It’s like, ‘Okay, let’s see what the orange fanatic has to say,’” he added. “How about the real estate agent who talks through her nose… This is so difficult. They overlap. I just can’t figure it out.”

Burr also revealed that he was surprised that “Trump didn’t win this case like he did four months ago,” after the July assassination attempt.

“If you were running for president as a kid and you got shot and you didn’t die, that was the end of the election,” Burr explained. “You couldn’t say anything. Right? Everyone would say, ‘This guy is the guy. He is the king. ”

Burr joked that the reason Trump survived was the “herky-jerky movements he makes.”

“You just can’t catch him, he’s a lunatic,” Burr said. “He was literally shot and immediately jumped back and started shouting unarmed in the direction the bullets were coming from. That is not a sensible person.”

Before ending his monologue, Burr shared his favorite moment from the 2024 campaign trail: Trump serving fries at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania last month.

“Wasn’t that great? That’s the only time I’ve ever seen that man truly happy,” Burr said. ‘Like he was beaming. When he came behind the counter, it was like he was standing behind the stage with Springsteen or something.

Burr has not shied away from talking about Trump in the past. During a lengthy conversation on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Last year, the Canton comic called the former and now future president a “narcissist,” but also predicted a Trump comeback despite his numerous indictments.

“He’s coming back, Jimmy,” Burr told Kimmel at the time. “It’s going to be great for comedy.”

In a November 2023 interview on “The Rich Eisen Show,” the “Old Dads” star defended his wife, Nia Renée Hill, after she knocked out Trump at UFC 295 last year in a moment captured on cameras that went viral.

“The guy walked into the arena, everyone was cheering, they gave him the finger, no one was arrested,” Burr explained to Eisen. ‘That’s why this country is great. Everyone expressed themselves. Can we all be adults?”

“I don’t know about you, but I came there to see the fights,” he added. “I didn’t know I was going to the Republican National Convention.”
