Bills-Jets Monday Night Football Open Wire: Aaron Rodgers vs. Josh Allen

No double header on Monday Night Football this week. We get one game tonight, and it should be fun: the Buffalo Bills take on the New York Jets. The Jets are a much better team than that record indicates, and the Bills are trying to keep up with the AFC. This should be a fun one.

The big news for this game is that the Jets will be missing their head coach. They fired Robert Saleh last week after a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. In a strange sense of justice, the Vikings let Sam Darnold run the quarterback position. In Saleh’s first year, the Jets traded Darnold to draft Zach Wilson, who is also no longer on the team. We don’t know who made that call, but it certainly didn’t help. There is speculation about Saleh coming to the San Francisco 49ers. That’s probably not going to happen, folks.

Aaron Rodgers is under scrutiny in all of this mess and he claims ignorance. When we say he doesn’t have the power, we seem to be speculating that he does.

Meanwhile, the Bills are on a two-game losing streak after losing to the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. Their wins this year come courtesy of a Cardinals team that surprised everyone, a Dolphins team without their starting quarterback, and the Jacksonville Jaguars (that’s it. The Jacksonville Jaguars). They haven’t beaten a winning team yet this season — or in the Dolphins’ case at the time, a winning team that’s healthy.

They will have to take care of the Jets tonight and keep Miami at bay once it is healthy. On paper, it looks like this division is theirs if they can get an edge.

FanDuel Sportsbook has the Bills favored by 1.5 points. I’m all about the Jets and the points in this. Interim head coaches can sometimes have a great first game, which starts by justifying why they should stay. Plus, the Jets are trying to prove something. Even if the Bills win this, I think it’s close. I wouldn’t mind putting money on the under for 41.5 points either. Both teams’ defenses must show up and hold down the fort.
