Blazers fans create excitement in the Moda Center on opening night

On Wednesday night the city wasn’t called Portland, it was Rip City!

Scores of fans entered the Moda Center wearing red for the Trail Blazers and many in blue for the Warriors.

“We have a new young rookie in the first draft, Clingan, and I don’t know if he was the first, but I think he was,” said Robin Wisner, a Trail Blazers fan.

“I love the Warriors, and I love the Blazers too,” said Andrew Fowell, a Warriors fan.

Some fans have four legs. We spoke to the owner of a dog named Snowflake.

“She likes to go in there, and you’ll see her when we go in there. She will run laps in there,” said Scott Seif, owner of Snowflake.

Just like Snowflake wears her wag, Taylor Stewart rocks the swag of his Blazers.

“Oh, I have the Blazers necklace, Blazer socks. My wife says I have too many Blazer clothes, but I don’t think so,” said Stewart, a Trail Blazers fan. “It’s not about being the best team over 82 games. It’s about being the best team on day one, and I think we crushed the Jazz.”

Here in Rip City, it’s not just basketballs in the air, it’s optimism.

“I have been a season ticket holder for ten years. We may not be top contenders, but you can’t beat these guys’ hearts when you go out there,” Wisner said.
