EAST LANSING – The Michigan State Spartans are back home Saturday night, hoping to get back on the winning track when they host the Bowling Green State Falcons.

After a pair of solid non-conference wins to start the season, the Spartans played their matchup against the nation’s top team, the Kansas Jayhawks, in the Champions Classic last Tuesday. Michigan State put up a good fight, but subpar shooting from beyond the arc hurt Green and White, leading to a 77-69 loss.

Frankie Fidler led the Spartans with 15 points in the loss, while Jaxon Kohler notched another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. While MSU is expected to be a solid team in Big Ten play, the loss to Kansas shows that they still have some work to do to keep up with the elite programs in the country.

The Falcons had a rough start to the new season, falling in matchups with Southern Mississippi and Davidson before defeating fellow Ohio school Taylor 107-43 on Monday night.

The Spartans are 11-3 against Bowling Green and have won each of their last five games, including the last meeting in December 2012.
